Happy 1/2 Birthday!!!

J is half a year old today...and the only thing he cared about was trying to get ahold of the cupcakes.  I can't believe he's already 6 months old.  Another few months and he'll be walking, then a few months after that he'll be playing pop warner football.  Man how time flies...

The Man Catcher...

So today marks a very important day in history...Daniela made her first cake from SCRATCH!!!  She no longer has to work for Betty Crocker.  The Findley/Correa household got Daniela this cake book for her birthday, and she is off and running.  The first cake in the curriculum was a sour cream pound cake with lemon glaze and is named The Man Catcher.  I had a bite and this really is great.  Good job babe!

Are They Shoes or Socks...

While at the store this weekend we saw some socks that look like shoes...so we brought them home.  I think they're funny...

Photo Time...

Rubba Dub Dub...

J's old bath tub wasn't fitting the bill. It didn't have any contours or supports inside and just wan't comfy for him. So we got him a new one that makes him feel like he is at a spa. Here he is giving it a test fit...

Jumpin' Around...

J tried out a jumper today at his grandparent's house and seemed to like it. So we picked one up for our house today while we were out. Now he can start to work off some of those leg rolls...

Shug's New Trick...

The baby has started sticking out his tounge all the time now.  Daniela thinks that he does it on command...but I just think that since he's doing it all the time, he would be sticking it out whether she was telling him to or not.  Either way, it's pretty funny...

Happy Birthday Mama Shug!!!

I'm cooking a surprise birthday dinner for Daniela...beef tenderloin with roasted potatoes along with some cupcakes from Sweet! for desert.  Hope she gets home soon.  Love you shug!  Happy Birthday!

Will You Be My Valentine?

Happy Valentine's Day!

FORCAST: Strong Chance of Thunder...

Mommy's Birthday Dinner...

...was tonight.  She made lasagna which was awesome.  We of course ended the night with a cake which was very nicely displayed on her new cake stand.  Happy early birthday!  We love you!!!

Miss You Dad...

We know that J will never get the chance to know his grandpa which is a sad reality Daniela and I are both dealing with.  But we decided to post this here so that one day J will at least get the opportunity to see that while grandpa didn't have the chance to influence his life, he's still around helping others...

Hello Mr. Mitchell,

I graduated from Colonial High School about four years ago. Today, I am trying to find Mr. Harp. He used to teach computer programming Colonial High School in the IT Magnet program. I see that he is no longer working for the school. Is there anyway you would have his contact information? Mr. Harp inspired and helped me get to where I am today, so I just wanted to get in touch with him to say Thank You.

Hope you can help me.

Sincerely,
Jorge E. Arias

Mr. Mitchell,

This is sad. I hoped to be able to say Thank You to him one day. I guess I will need to wait.

In his class, he really encouraged and helped those who were interested in programming. He helped me get an internship at Loews Hotels IT Department through the IT Magnet program at CHS. I was the first student to do the internship. He also tried to get the students involved with the Robotics Team. Because of my involvement (and his recommendation letter), I received a very sweet 10k/yr (40k total) scholarship at FloridaTech for participating in the FIRST Robotics competition during high school. He helped me select a university. In fact, he recommended me to go to an expensive university like FloridaTech (where I was actually going to LEARN), instead of taking the easy path by going to a cheaper school like Devry (which some of your faculty heavily recommend because of the lower cost). I am very glad I followed all of his advices. Today I am doing research on Distributed Systems, Software Testing, and Financial Modeling at Florida Tech as I work on my Masters degree. I've published 1 journal article and I am currently working on trying to publish a second one. I'm also working on a thesis based on my research. I recently started an internship with General Electric as a Software Engineer.

I really thank Mr. Harp for all the advises and encouragement he gave me. He did not look at the fact that I was an foreign student with very little knowledge of the English language. I now feel he really wanted to end his days giving hope to students and helping them build a better than mediocre future. I feel blessed because I am here because of him.

Mr. Mitchell, I hope you are encouraging today's students, american and foreign, to surpass mediocrity.

Its hard to explain how he encouraged me. All I can say is that Mr. Harp was an excellent professor. He made a difference. I wish there were more like him.

Sincerely,
Jorge E. Arias

TOUCHDOWN!!!

J is all dressed and ready for the Super Bowl tonight. It's going to be a good game. GO SAINTS!

Party On...

Last night was the official shindig to celebrate London's birthday.  Hector grilled some steaks and Daniela baked a cake.   Of course any opportunity Daniela gets to bake something, shes going to jump on it...

Cake With London...

We went by to have some cake yesterday with London on her birthday.  She was acting a little camera shy, although still very photogenic as usual.  Cake was delicious!  Hope she had a good day.

Hot Off The Press...

Daniela's V-Day/Birthday present got here today.  I know that the occasions aren't for another week or two, but I couldn't wait to give it to her and went ahead and ruined the surprise.  I took our blog and turned it into a hardcover book so that she'd always have a copy laying around.  I think I am going to make her a new book every year.  The first one starts on December 17, 2008 which is the day we found out she was pregnant, and goes to August 27,2009 when J was born.  I hope she likes it...

J at it again...

During the photo shoot for London's birthday photo, J went at it again cracking himself up.  We love hearing him laugh!  And Daniela almost gave him a heart attack...AGAIN!  When is she going to learn? lol

Happy Birthday London!!!

J wants to wish a happy FIRST birthday to his very special cousin.  We love you!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY!
